Hybrid Heating & Air Conditioning Systems
Air to Air Heat Pump + Natural Gas, Propane or Oil Fossil Fuels = Comfort & Efficiency!
What is a Hybrid System?
A hybrid Heating & Air conditioning system combines the best aspects of electric heat pumps with fossil fuels including propane, heating oil, and natural gas. New advances in smart technology gives a hybrid system the ability to switch back-and-forth between the fuel sources to heat and cool as efficiently as possible, this helps lower energy bills while increasing overall comfort.
What is A Heat Pump System?
A heat pump system is basically an air conditioning system that is able to run in reverse producing heat instead of cold air. All HVAC systems are designed to transfer heat. Heat pump systems take the heat found in the atmosphere and transfer it inside, a heat pump is only able to do this when the temperature is above 35 degrees. When the temperatures drop lower than that a backup heating source is necessary to deliver enough heat to reach setpoint on the thermostat.
The most popular type of heat pump for the last 30 years is the heat pump with electric supplemental heat. With the high cost of straight electric heat these new hybrid systems maximize efficiency for the most economical cost of operation.
How does a Hybrid System Operate?
The way a hybrid system operates is simple: once a heat pump is unable to condition a space with adequate heat, a back up heating system or element is required and engaged to make up for what a heat pump is unable to. There are a few different options for backup heating systems, any fossil fuels such as, natural gas, heating oil, propane, and electric are able to be utilized in conjunction with heat pumps. There are many ways to re-configure your existing system into a hybrid system. With power utility prices increasing everyday a Hybrid system is the best way to cool and heat your home as efficiently and comfortably as possible.
